Fantastic news from Santa Cruz County, California!
The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors, on a 5-0 vote yesterday, directed staff to bring back ordinances that will legalize movable tiny homes as:
- ADUs (accessory dwelling units)
- Single-Family Lots
- Tiny Home Villages/Planned Unit Developments (PUDs)
THIA President Dan Fitzpatrick has been working closely with newly elected Supervisor Manu Koenig on this legalization effort.
“Supervisor Koenig, yesterday, did a masterful presentation in support of movable tiny homes and we are ecstatic to learn of the unanimous support from the Board. We will,” continued Fitzpatrick, “be working with county staff in the development and processing of these ordinance amendments.”-THIA President, Dan Fitzpatrick
Hopefully, Santa Cruz County will soon join Humboldt and Santa Clara counties and the cities of Fresno, San Luis Obispo, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, and California City in California in becoming tiny home friendly. Importantly, the success of these new ordinances has national implications, as they become models for other municipalities.
