Let's shed some light on this topic!Implementing building code standards, it's a two-step process:📜 Step 1: Development and PublicationThe building standards are first developed by the ICC Off-Site Construction Tiny Houses Standard Consensus Committee (IS-OSMTH) and then officially published. This ensures that the standards are comprehensive, effective, and aligned with the needs of the tiny home community.🏗️ Step 2: Adoption by States and MunicipalitiesThe second step involves adopting these published codes by states and various local municipalities. For the building standards to become applicable and enforceable, they need to be accepted and integrated into local building codes which are ICC "I code" based.💼 The Role of ICC Codes:ICC codes are the gold standard for building codes, providing the basis for building standards in all 50 states, 5 US Territories, numerous other countries, and most local municipalities. By partnering with ICC, THIA (Tiny Home Industry Association) ensures that the standards developed and published by the IS-OSMTH Committee have a high probability of being adopted by states for practical use.🔍 Transparency Matters: The ICC takes pride in an open and transparent standards development process. Every committee meeting is accessible to the public, fostering inclusivity.
