Summary
Chapter 5 establishes the Residential Building code component of the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code (“MUBEC”) and the Maine Uniform Building Code (“MUBC”). The provisions of this chapter are based on a nationally recognized model building code, IRC 2015, published by the International Code Council, Inc., and is made part of the MUBEC and MUBC through incorporation by reference.

The Technical Building Codes and Standards Board was created in 2010 under M.R.S. 10 §9722. Duties of the board are to adopt and amend the Maine Uniform Building and Energy Code, identify and resolve conflicts of the building code and life safety codes.
